Our Story

We’re Mike and Jessica McNichols - husband and wife, and the founders of Goodstory Studios. At the heart of it all is a simple belief: everyone has a story worth sharing.

For us, that belief is personal. Back in 2019, my father, Jim, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. You watch someone you love slip away in slow motion, always thinking there’s more time to ask the questions that matter the most—until you realize the disease is moving faster than you are. As the disease progressed and more of his mental acuity began to slip, we realized we were losing him piece by piece. He ultimately passed away in 2025. We were relieved he was no longer suffering, but along with the grief, was the realization: we never recorded his life story in his own words. His voice, his laugh, his experience, his memories, and his wisdom faded with him and, in turn, are now lost forever.

That loss became our purpose. It taught us just how fragile time is, and the importance of capturing our loved ones’ lived experience in their own words. We aren’t just recording interviews; we’re saving the voices and memories your family can pass down for generations.
